Bendrigg Trust is a residential activity centre located in beautiful countryside between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales. It is one of few centres in the UK running holidays and residential outdoor education courses specifically for disabled and disadvantaged young people. Set in 15 acres of grounds, the main accommodation unit at Bendrigg Lodge has been extensively refurbished to extend the facilities available for people with more severe disabilities.
Groups and individuals come to the Centre, for a week or weekend, from schools & colleges for children with special educational needs, homes, hostels, clubs, hospitals, community groups and disability organisations. There is no age limit and all ages and abilities can take part in the activities.
Programmes are ‘tailor-made’ for each group and a wide variety of activities can be incorporated. These may include: climbing, abseiling, canoeing, caving, sailing and orienteering.
Bendrigg Trust is open throughout the year and a dedicated team of qualified and experienced tutors are employed to deliver the activities. Bendrigg Trust is registered by the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority as licensed to provide Climbing, Caving, Trekking and Watersports activities.
