My name is Mark Varley and I am also known as BeautifulBondage(.net) I'm a Professional Photographer and Rope Bondage Artist living in the UK. Around 1991 at the age of just 15 I started tying people up, around 1994 I started taking it much more seriously, inspired by the beautiful images in a Japanese bondage magazine. I began absorbing information, skills and advice from anyone and any source I could find as well as developing an understanding of how bondage works by reverse-engineering bondage from photos and other artworks and developing new ties on the same principles.
By 2005 I was working as an artistic photographer specialising in Artistic Nudes, Fine-Art Nudes & Figure Nudes and I began incorporating ropework in my nudes photography initially to add variation in lines and textures, the following year I published my first book on bondage "Beautiful Bondage the art of rope bondage" (2006) and I began becoming much more widely known in the Bondage and BDSM world. I was already teaching bondage regularly by 2005 and my rope bondage photography was becoming much more popular than my nudes.
My second bondage book "London Bound" was produced and published in 2007, while my first book had was a mixture of a how-to and bondage photography I decided to only explore the photography and the rope art itself in subsequent books.
To-date all of my subsequent bondage books have been artistic studies, I am continually developing new ties and variations of previously known ties so my books and phtos published online are both beautiful to look through for anyone with an appreciation of the art of rope bondage and also inspiring for those who also tie.
In 2016 I began making rope bondage instructional videos, as I often develop new ties that are used in my photography I was regularly asked to teach people how to recreate it, I realised that the time i was spending writing step-by-step instructions multiple times could be better used making a video, which would be much easier to understand and also help a wider range of people, I now make videos for this reason and also to teach the kind of things most often asked for by my tuition clients, to benefit people worldwide who can't come to me for tuition.

My interest in Rope Bondage has always had two distinct sides, sometimes they intermingle but usually they are separated for professional reasons, my interest in bondage isn't purely aesthetic, I have been an active Dominant for my whole adult life (properly described as a Sadistic Dominant Master & Top) and I do use bondage personally in the bedroom, partly for this reason I usually apply the rule that the bondage I do/develop/design/use must be functional bondage, 99% of the time my models really are properly restrained (this does not mean all of my models submit, a Top/bottom 'relationship' is very different from a Dominant/submissive one), I will admit that I do often indulge in elaborate decorative bondage that has little to no direct function, but as a general principle my bondage really is bondage. I certainly don't enjoy bondage for purely personal reasons, I have a separate and distinct love for it as an art unto itself, it was the aesthetic beauty which first caused me to explore bondage further and that is still a main motivation today, while my models really are restrained they are not Dominated, a photoshoot is a creative artistic process and I feel quite strongly that personal sexual motivations have no place at a photoshoot (I even made a video on this specific point).
My first love was the artistic nude, the beauty of the human form, I explore this in my Artistic Nude, Fine-Art Nude and Figure Nude photography, my love of Bondage is largely an extension of that, it's a beautifully creative intricate art in itself and I feel it compliments and enhances the nude figure, even before and as-well-as the more erotic implications and aspects which are present in varying degrees in my work.
Photography is my main love, the art of rope bondage is my second love, I feel very fortunate to have filled my life with both, though it did and does take a lot of hard work, these two things fill my life because I made it that way, I love creating / capturing beauty and I have always freely shared much of my work, initially in galleries but today mostly online, I want people to see my work, to enjoy it, be inspired by it, or just to make someones day 0.01% better.
While most of my photography and all of my videos are freely available online, my photography can also be purchased as prints and most of my projects are published as books, I also teach people how to tie bondage, either with an intimate partner or with a professional model, I also often tie bondage for other photographers and videographers, finally I also sell ropes and bondage hardware, the very same ropes and tools I choose to use myself after many years exploring and experimenting.
