Ashenvale Stud

Ashenvale Stud was founded in 2010. After the loss of our Arab mare, we felt a change in direction was needed. Upon looking around I came across a young colt advertised locally and that very day we roped in a very close friend and her lorry to drive down to Reading and collect my first Section A pony - Brynseion Vesuvious

I was thrilled with Vesuvious and we spent most of the summer showing together, teaching each other the ropes as we went. I can safely say from that point on Luke and I was "bitten by the bug".


It wasnt until later in that same year that I set out to purchase my first show/broodmare Blackhill Eirona.

Eirona was purchased from the Dycott Stud and I owe so much to this mare and also George and Clare for giving me the opportunity to purchase her. She has been everything that I could have asked for and more, being an outstanding show mare and a fantastic mother to Ashenvale Evelyn our first foal born here to the Ashenvale prefix.


From this point, I started to look further into the Blackhill lines and one stallion that clearly stood out for me was the super Premium stallion Weston Dixie. Renowned for his extravagant movement and lovely front, which we have found was repeated in his stock, it confirmed to me that this was something that we would strive to achieve in our own breeding lines and we then decided to base our foundation mares on this sire by purchasing two daughters Blackhill Trim and Blackhill Tia who is also out of Blackhill Tina being a full sister to the ever famous Blackhill Picalo.
