I make hand made and retro styled fishing floats to complement retro and vintage fishing tackle. I have been an angler for over 40 years and when I started I used to make fishing floats as a matter of necessity, but also for my own enjoyment. I started making floats again a few years ago after getting interested in vintage fishing tackle as modern floats may work well enough but they just looked too 'modern' against my cane rods and old reels. I also restore cane rods and can supply other vintage and retro tackle, or put you in touch with people who can through the Group I run,'Traditional angling, Retro Tackle', or the TARTs, as they are known. Prices vary from item to item and reflect the work that goes into them, and if they are bespoke one offs which I make to order as required. All floats are finished in a high gloss laquer which is tough and will keep the floats looking good through years of use. Cane rod repairs and restorations are priced individually but only undertaken on the understanding that these are usually old and original parts can be hard to find, expensive to have made to order or just not available for some rods, to that end I will recommend the best course of action with the budget you have in mind, and not simply plough on and give you a large bill for something that would not be economically viable, sentimental value does not relate to cost and if you still want me to go ahead a down payment for the more expensive parts will be required.
