More about Out In The Aire

Children need regular interactions in nature to ensure that we provide with an opportunity to develop socially, emotionally, physically, linguistically, cognitively and spiritually. These exciting child-led woodland sessions will allow children to develop confidence, self-regulation, social skills and other emotional intelligences through a variety of experiences. The sessions are very relaxed and provide development through teamwork, risk taking and problem solving activities.

About us

Sisters Bethan and Viky set up Out In The Aire in 2016 as a Partnership and our mission is to provide an outdoor education provision to help build a better future for young people across Bradford and the Aire Valley.

Bethan is a creative, enthusiastic early years educator with 5 years experience in a variety of settings. Viky is a Forest School Practitioner and has worked and volunteered over the last 10 years with a number of local charities providing support on environmental projects. They are ultimately working to create a safe setting that allows young people to develop the right skills to support them in adult life whilst bringing exciting learning opportunities outside the traditional classroom environment.

Our programmes are based on the Scandinavian style of play and learning in the outdoors. Regular interactions in nature have been proven to support social, emotional, physical, linguistic and cognitive learning through teamwork, risk taking and problem solving activities.

Over the last year, we have worked with a number of partners to develop links with the community including workshops with Brick Box Arts who ran recent successful events at the old M & S building on Darley Street and the Fresh Aire Do at Cliffe Castle, Keighley. We have provided free activities for local residents in the Keighley Big Local area. Family sessions have also been taking place once a month in Heaton.

Because we care about the environmental, 10% of all profits from our sessions are donated to the Forest of Bradford CIC to support the management of our woodland and funding for tree planting throughout the Bradford District www.beat.org.uk/forest-of-bradford
