Active Life Centre @Coxhoe is managed by local community group called Future Leisure in Coxhoe (FLiC). FLiC is a newly constituted registered charity which was set up in March 2011 in response to Durham County Council’s proposal to close the Centre.
Our mission is to be a ‘community hub’ and to take a lead role in the development of new and improved sport, fitness, educational and social activities for the improvement of health and well being of the community.
We have a fully equipped Fitness Centre with an assortment of cardiovascular, strength training and free weight equipment. The centre offers a variety of group exercise classes of all types including Zumba, BTS Body Pump/Balance/Combat classes, Pilates and Easy Aerobics.
Our large Sports Hall is available for 5-a-side football, badminton, basketball and other sports. We offer space and activities for children’s birthday parties, including the popular ‘Menace’ bouncy castle. Our outdoor, floodlit Astro-turf pitch is available for 5-a-side football games and training. Fully qualified friendly staff are here to support our members and help them achieve their goals. We work closely with various other groups and local businesses to provide support in the community. We look forward to seeing you soon.
