More about A Change of Pace-Complementary Therapy

My new business - A Change of Pace - is set in a purpose built garden room in my garden at 187 Glasgow Road. It is lovely to have a calm space dedicated to helping others.

As a complementary therapist with a degree in nursing and counselling skills I am interested in getting to know my clients and getting to know their medical histories. By understanding their physical and emotional problems and indeed understanding how their physical or emotional issues are affecting their health I am then able to tailor their individual treatment programme to best benefit their requirements. Most people think that you would attend a complementary therapist to relax and unwind or if you are experiencing muscular ache. All of these things are very true but the benefits and reasons to see me go far beyond the obvious.

By coming for treatment whether it is clinical reflexology, aromatherapy or Swedish massage the individuals circulation will be boosted and the body's lymphatic drainage will also be made to work more efficiently, the knock on effect of these two, results in your own body being able to work more efficiently. It gives your body an opportunity to start repairing itself. By tailoring the treatment to your individual requirements, whether it be pain, sleep issues, low mood, stress, anxiety, breathing difficulties, the list is endless we can work together to start to see a difference.

Clinical Reflexology is a very specific, gentle foot massage working areas of the foot which have been shown to mirror areas of the body. Put aside your scientific brains and just give it a go. It is incredibly relaxing and the cumulative effects can be very interesting and quite powerful. Aromatherapy uses essential oils which are derived from flowers, leavers and roots. A unique blend is created depending on the client's requirements and the oils are then massaged very slowly and rhythmically over the clients body. the client is encouraged to leave the oils on over night to get the maximum benefit. Swedish Massage is possibly the best know of the therapies that I offer. A massage oil is massaged vigorously onto the clients body, this is very good for releasing tension and tight muscle as well as for boosting circulation and lymphatic drainage.

Life is hectic. Stress effects every single cell in our body! We are all guilty of juggling too many tasks these days but building time for yourself and finding a way for you to unwind is increasingly important for our physical and mental health. Give it a go. You will be surprised by the difference time out can make on wellbeing and indeed productivity. Taking time out for you helps you rebalance and focus better on your goals.
