After 14 years writing about scents, and a few olfactory adventures along the way, Sarah McCartney wrote a book about a woman who solves problems with coffee, cake and the scent of happy times; The Scent of Possibility (Lulu.com).
Then unable to find any perfumes that matched the scents she had described she had a go at making them myself. Then, while the book was still sitting on an agent's desk, chums and relations started asking her to make their happy times scents for them. Instead of turning into a novelist, after another couple of years, Sarah became a perfumer.
