We are a newly formed, local business operating as a Community Interest Company for social enterprise. We operate on a not-for-profit basis, primarily with social objectives.
We have over 30 years combined experience working in the care industry with vulnerable adults with adults with Learning Disabilities.
We have decided now is the time to go it alone and share our passion for the empowerment of vulnerable adults and have set up this organisation to develop to life skills and independent learning opportunities, primarily for adults with learning disabilities of a low to moderate level.
Local authority funding criteria recently changed and the direction is now more focused towards those with profound learning disabilities, missing out the mild to moderate. This meant that overnight, government funded services like ours were removed from the reach of this client group which has left a huge void in the learning opportunities for adults with LD, once they have reached the age of 25.

As life skills training is ongoing throughout adult life, those clients who fall outside of the targeted group, miss out greatly.
We therefore wanted to run our own organisation to ensure that the needs of the individual are achieved and that these much needed support and training session are available to all vulnerable adults who could benefit.
Our target client is aged 18 to 60 with a mild to moderate learning disability / difficulty. They may live independently, with family or in a supported community environment, (shared lives, supported living, residential care).
They are seeking to improve their life skills with a view to becoming more independent within the community. This may include, preparing to leave the supported environment and taking on their own tenancy etc. or just developing their daily living skills to take more control of their lives and open up the choices available to them.
