Westfield Acupuncture

Acupuncture is a form of therapy which has been used for many thousands of years in one or other form. It is usually used as a treatment for painful conditions (for example joint and muscular problems) but can also be used to treat the symptoms of a variety of non-painful conditions as well.

I have trained with the British Medical Acupuncture Society in the form of acupuncture known as 'Western Medical Acupuncture'. This type of acupuncture uses modern scientific knowledge of the structure and function of the human body to guide the placement of the acupuncture needles.

Acupuncture is becoming much more of a 'mainstream' therapy and there is now good scientific evidence for its use in many conditions. Many pain clinics in NHS hospitals now offer acupuncture as a routine treatment.

When your practitioner is appropriately trained, acupuncture is a very safe therapy. Prior to training in acupuncture I worked as a hospital doctor for fifteen years, specialising in anaesthesia. I am bound by the Code of Practice of the British Medical Acupuncture Society, am registered wit the General Medical Council and am fully licensed by Fife Council for the practice of acupuncture.
