★ FAMILY WEEKENDER ★ LIVE RUGBY ON HUGE OUTDOOR LED SCREEN ★ CHILDRENS FUN ACTIVITIES ★ BRAAI ★ SA FOOD & DRINKS ★ LIVE MUSIC ★ CAMPING

The UK’s biggest South African food and music festival returns this year since it was last held in 2015 with over a whopping 2000 tickets sold.

Thank you to all our supporters who attended in 2015. We listened to your comments and this year we aim to have even more live South African music, a feast of food stalls and of course plenty of childrens entertainment to keep them happy.

Everyone is welcome to bring picnic blankets, camping chairs, umbrellas, tents & sports games.
The event is open to everyone, so feel free to invite your friends who aren’t from South Africa to experience a little slice of home and that warm SA hospitality.

We have so many lekker things planned for you all this year:

★ SA FOOD & DRINKS
There will be a number of stalls serving all the South African favourites like vetkoek and mince/curry, Bunny Chows, Biltong, Droëwors, Chilli Bites, Boerewors, Pap, Koeksisters, The Original Mozambique Preggo Roll, Kudu & Ostrich burgers and of course Castle, Amstel, Savanna & Klipdrift. We are also introducing some World Foods this year. The cocktails and drinks bars will be available from Friday through to Sunday.

Campers are welcome to bring along their own cold food and drink but this will only be permitted into the campsite and not the festival area. STRICTLY NO OWN ALCOHOL BROUGHT INTO FESTIVAL AREA. Camp fires are unfortunately not permitted on the campsite.

★ LIVE RUGBY ON A HUGE LED SCREEN
Catch Australia vs. Springboks live on Saturday 9 September at 10AM on a HUGE OUTDOOR LED SCREEN! If you’re camping with us, wake up to the smells of fresh breakfast cooking followed by this Rugby Test of epic proportions!

★ LIVE MUSIC
We had Justin Serrao with us in 2015 and we are super happy to have him back this year. This SA Idols finalist and sentimental heartthrob has been wowing audiences back home with his soul fire voice and unmistakable solo acoustic guitar act.

Jami Hilton is on the bill and will be showcasing his unique one-man band talent of soulful blues and folk.

Cape Town indie-rock band Red Tape Riot are fitting us into their UK touring schedule!

MORE ACTS TO BE CONFIRMED IN THE COMING WEEKS!

About Justin Serrao:
•••••••••••••••••••••••
Justin has Performed shows with the likes of Prime Circle, Parlotones, Albert Frost, Aking, Wrestlerish, Short Straw, Jeremy Loops, Southern Gypsy Queen, Naming James, Wickhead, Wonderboom and Shawn Phillips just to name a few…

Justin began his career in 2001 in a punk rock band "74%stupid" and then moved to a more mature sound as the bassist for "Grounded" who's single "Getting Tired" did well nationwide on Radio in South Africa. Justin then moved to the acoustic guitar and wrote his own songs and formed the band Smash & Grab Hotspot, who recorded their album but it was never released due to the band breaking up. In 2011 he made top 33 in SA Idols and decided to go solo

“ This sentimental heartthrob is no newbie to the SA Music scene.” Said GENEVIEVE VIEIRA FROM INDIE DOES IT.CO.ZA

"His Soul-Fire voice" Frans JET BLACK CAMARO

"There really are few things as riveting as being introduced to new music that you can’t help getting lost to. It’s that feeling of getting chills right down your spine as it feels that every chord and note that gets played just speaks to you. This was the exact effect that Justin Serrao had on me. To be completely honest, the name Justin Serrao was new to me and I didn’t really know what to expect. Luckily, being the fine guy that Mr. Serrao is, he didn’t leave me in the dark for too long. From the moment he picked up his acoustic guitar to the moment he put it down, it was like I was lost in a trance of acoustic amazement. Serrao had the whole Tanz Café hanging on his every word as he filled the venue with a beautiful display of raw emotion and musical brilliance. If you feel like your life has been missing some good ol’ acoustic vibes, be sure to get a copy of Justin Serrao’s debut album, Touching Toes Without Clothes and watch the minutes fly by as you lose yourself to his emotion-charged acoustic tunes." - Written by Chris van der Merwe (SA Music Scene)

About Jami Hilton:
•••••••••••••••••••••••
Jami needs no introduction, but for some fellow South Africans you may have bumped into him busking his soulful blues and folk tunes in London’s tube stations. Here’s a musician who can juggle slide guitar and harmonica whilst singing and playing percussion with his feet – it’s not a wonder Brixton Buzz are all over this guy.
Having recently played The Bedford in Balham, we’re thrilled to have Jami Hilton playing at Vetkoek and Vleis Festival this year.

About Red Tape Riot:
•••••••••••••••••••••••
Red Tape Riot would describe their music as Groove-Pop, an evolution of all the band member’s influences that range from the post-punk sounds of the 80’s, to the swagger of Arctic Monkeys and The Cure, through to elements of Incubus, Dire Straits, 2 Door Cinema Club, and everything in between. Culminating into an altogether unique foot tapping contrast between heartfelt melodies and strong
party grooves.
Red Tape Riot has been earmarked as one of the most exciting additions to the South African music industry since forming in 2012. Over the last 4 years they have cemented themselves into the South African live performance scene, and have created a loyal and steadily growing fan base. Recent live performance triumphs include playing on the Main Stage at the internationally acclaimed 25 000 person
strong Rocking The Daisies music festival in Darling, CT, along with stand-out performances at many other large scale festivals such as The Wacky Wine Festival, Darling Beer Festival, National Coffee & Chocolate Festival, SA Bike Festival, Electric Vines, as well as many of the top live music venues in their home country of SA – The Assembly, Mercury Live, Café Roux, Aandklas, Hillcrest Quarry, to name but a few.
