Turtle Rescue Uk is a not for profit organization founded 26 years ago to deal with the plight that faces turtles/ terrapins in the Uk today. Despite being bred in captivity hundreds are being dumped / abandoned in local parks and lakes and left to die, when despite what most pet shops would have you believe they grow to big or they have outlived their novelty value..
With little or no provision to deal with the sheer numbers of them the major animal charity in the Uk destroys them unless rescue center's like ourselves take them in their care...
In addition to the online food shop, in February 2013 the North East branch opened the organizations first shop In Langley Moor, Durham to sell donated goods to raise much needed funds (trading as New To You Recycling) which also includes a FREE Exhibition of some of the different breeds of turtles in their care..
