I have been teaching in primary schools since 1995. In 2004, I started tutoring through an Australian franchise before branching out on my own in 2007. I still regularly undertake supply work in primary schools which enables me to keep up to date with current ways of teaching and learning, together with the ever changing curriculum.

For me, it's all about fulfilling the child's needs. My lessons are structured to take the child's personality, enthusiasm and interests into account so that they can get up to speed and become confident learners. Learning should be fun!

I tutor each weekday evening throughout term time. I also tutor in the holidays if required. Each lesson lasts for 45 minutes and comprises a mixture of activities appropriate to your child. Yes, there is homework but I realize that school work must take priority and if it doesn't get done, so be it!

If you feel your child needs some extra help, give me a call and we can have an informal chat. I'II then come and meet you all. This is important because if your child doesn't like me, then we aren't going to make any progress! I do a short assessment and if I feel I can help, we can arrange a mutually convenient time for tutoring to start. This is usually in your home.

On a personal level, I love life and living in Cornwall means I can enjoy the pleasures of long coastal walks with my 2 dogs, leisurely cycle rides through the lanes and relaxation in the garden with a good book. I also love photography and growing and eating my own fruit and veggies. There's not a lot of time left for much else!
