Welcome to Tiki's LIVE...

In short, we are the little crew who run monthly open mic nights in the lovely Tiki's coffee shop in Hemel Hempstead town centre.

In a bid to get the Hemel music scene going again, we started our nights in 2017 - they take place on the first Friday of the month.

We invite musicians, poets, comedians, rappers, artists, bands or anyone who wants to share their live talent on stage.

Who are we? Let's meet the team:

Amy, Owner of Tiki's
Amy is a local gal, she runs the coffee shop and is the smiling face you'll see when you walk through the door. She's run the shop since the late 2000s, and is known for being so laid back she's virtually horizontal.

Alex and Jack, Owners of Black Tavern Club | Coffee & Wine
Black Tavern Club are wine importers and licensed event organisers. They launched the open mic nights at Tiki's and are the ones you can thank for the top notch booze that is on offer at the open mic nights. They now run their own place in Boxmoor called 'Coffee & Wine' so check them out there too!

Robbyn, Singer for DodoBones
As a singer, Robbyn started playing live music at Tiki's in 2012, and has since managed to work her way in to help organise these stellar events. You'll also see her on the open mic nights, as she will be your host.

Why do we do it?
We love Hemel Hempstead. Robbyn grew up in Hemel and cut her teeth at various live music events in town; Alex and Jack are fomer bandmates who saw the potential for a new Hemel music venue when Alex moved up here with his young family; and Amy simply loves making people happy. Our nights are for that - inclusive, fun nights, for anyone from, from any background, who wants to perform in front of an open, warm and friendly audience.
