Started as a cottage Hospital in 1863 and was built on the current site in the 1930s and developed as a specialist burns unit by SIR Archibald Mcindoe during the second world war when it became famous for the pioneering treatment of RAF and allied aircrew badly burned or crushed. It remains the forefront of specialist care today.The Hospital was named after Queen Victoria and the Princess Royal is the current patron of the hospital. Most famously this was where the Guinea Pig club was formed in 1941, as a club which then became a support network for the aircrew and their family members, the club still provides assistance today and meet regulary in East Grinstead, the Duke of Edinburgh is the current President.This Hospital has formed part of many peoples lives,patients and staff, it has been the foundation of many relationships,marriages and friendships and i hope this page will bring everyone back together again, old and new.
