More about The London Aesthetics Lounge

So what is Micropigmentation?
Well it is known by a variety of names, Dermagraphics, Cosmetic tattooing, Semi-permanent make-up - it is all the same. The principle is to permeate hypo-allergenic pigment into the top most layers of the skin - also known as the Dermis using a similar method to tattooing, in order to create a flawless even make-up effect with no smudging or running.

What are the benefits of having Micropigmentation?
Our increasingly hectic lifestyles mean that any time saved is always a bonus!!! If you are tired of the mundane task of re-applying cosmetics every morning only to find that half way through your day half of it has disappeared, smudged or run then micropigmentation is the ideal solution.

If you have sparse eyebrows, no definition to your lip line or eye line or even gaps or balding through years of over plucking your brows then micropigmentation could be all you need to recreate a freshened and rejuvenated appearance.

Imagine being able to wake up fresh faced each morning without the need for endlessly trying to draw on evenly matched eyebrows or straight lined liner. No more lipstick bleed into fine lines or make-up gathering at the tear duct. Perfectly applied make-up that lasts all day and night.

Micropigmentation can also assist those with medical conditions such as Alopecia or hair loss due to Chemotherapy,as well as those who have difficulty applying make up due to unsteady or shaking hands or poor or failing eyesight. Not only will this treatment provide the effect of replacing the lost hair or give even lines but it will also give back confidence to those who may have suffered in silence for many years.

What can you expect during the treatment?
All micropigmentation treatments begin with an initial consultation that lasts around 30 minutes.

During this time we will discuss the area of treatment you would like as well as clarifying skin tone and skin type to ensure the correct pigment colouring is used.

A medical history form will be filled out as well as an allergy test to ensure you have no reaction to either the pigment or the local anesthetic being used. A treatment plan is then drawn up and you are ready to book your initial micropigmentation appointment.

Consultations are carried out at least 48 hours before the initial appointment commences to ensure no reaction to the allergy test has occurred.

During the initial treatment we will take before pictures to keep as a record on file.

A topical anesthetic will be applied to the area and left for twenty minutes in order for the area to become sufficiently numb. After this time shaping and shades will be decided and the treatment will commence.

Initial treatments usually last for approximately two hours and during this time anesthetic will continuously be applied to the area so that you remain as comfortable as possible.

After the procedure is complete, the area will be cleaned and photos will be taken and again stored on file. The pigment colour at this point will be much darker than the final colour you will be left with after the healing stage is complete. Most micropigmentation fades by approximately 50-60 percent after the initial treatment and this is why it is important to book the top up session.

An aftercare form will be provided and explained to you and a follow-up appointment is then booked for 6 weeks after, This will be when a top-up will be carried out on the area to provide deeper colour and further definition and in order for the pigment to retain its longevity.

Will the treatment hurt?
Every client is different with completely unique pain thresholds. Some clients advise that they do not feel anything at all whilst others feel mild discomfort or find it slightly painfully. During the procedure you will be continuously asked if you are comfortable and will be provided with anesthetic whenever required.

Is it expensive?
Micropigmentation is in the same price range as Botox or Dermal fillers yet it can last from anywhere between six months to three years. If you compare how much it costs you to renew your make-up over this time span then you actually will save a substantial amount of money.

There are some beauticians that do carry out micropigmentation at a lower price but at The London Aesthetics Lounge you are guaranteed to have a fully VTCT level 4 technician carrying out your procedure with full licensing and insurance with state of the art machinery and the best quality of pigments you can buy. As they say, pay cheap- pay twice!!

How does Laser tattoo removal work?
When you have a tattoo, ink particles are penetrated into the skin and become encapsulated within collagen fibres as the skin heals. The ink particles are too large for the body to destroy and remove so by emitting the correct spectrum of laser to the area the pigment heats up, expands and breaks up into tiny particles that are then carried away by the white blood cells and eliminated from the body.

To provide a more indepth explanation on how laser removal works, you may be interested in watching the video link at the bottom of this page.

Will my tattoo be completely removed?
There are colours used in tattooing that can be extremely difficult to completely remove, this is because the two wavelengths of light emitted by the laser are attracted to specific colours. Blacks, dark blues and reds are the easiest to target whereas whites, yellows and very vibrant colours can be more challenging - this is not a problem if you are removing a tattoo in order to have a cover up replaced in the same area as the pigment will be lightened enough to camouflage over.

Depending on the size and depth of the tattoo determines how many sessions may be needed to completely remove the pigment. We always recommend a course of 6 sessions with a 6 week cool off period between treatments. This gives the body enough time to remove the tiny particles broken down by the laser and to build collagen back in the area without causing damage to surrounding tissues.

Will it be painful?
Each client is different with very individual pain thresholds. Some clients have claimed it is no more painful than having a tattoo whilst others have found it more uncomfortable. We will always do our best to keep you comfortable and if shorter sessions are required over a longer time span then this can be arranged.

Directly after the treatment the area may be sore and will be red, this usually fades within a few hours. You may experience mild blistering or bruising but this will also disappear after 5-7 days.

What can i expect during the treatment?
Every procedure begins with a consultation where we detail your medical history, the size and colour of the tattoo being removed and then take photos to be kept on file.

A patch test is carried out on the area where an initial laser hit is applied to the tattoo to determine how the skin reacts. If everything is ok to proceed we then book in the course of treatment as deemed necessary to completely remove the tattoo.
