The Institute was formed in 2007 mainly to serve the linguistic, cultural and social needs of the Tamil community in Nottigham and its neighbourhood. The main aim was to teach language and culture to the children who are born here to enable them to learn and preserve the rich heritage of Tamils.

The change in needs and demand due to the increase in Tamil population made it necessary to expand its activities further to accommodate the wider community. Separate independent groups focusing in sports, fine arts and welfare services were formed to further the development of youth and to fill the gap in services for the elderly and people in need generally

What we do

Tamil Kalvikoodam teaches Tamil, Bharata natyam, Flute, Hinduism, Keyboard, Miruthangam, Veena, Violin and Vocal from beginners to diploma level. We operate from Cobden Street, Kirkby In Ashfield, Nottinghaml on Sunday between the times of 12pm to 5pm.

Our Admission policy

Owing to Tamil Kalvikoodam - Nottingham reputed and fervent teachers, impartiality, low fee level and its location, there is an overwhelming demand for places at all times and we follow a very stringent admission procedure. However we treat everyone equally and admissions are given to children on their own merits.
