Through our range of employment initiatives we offer help and support to unemployed people from the Borough to help them find work.

Starting Point is our specialist employment advice and guidance service, with offices in the town centre and in Parr.

The Chamber also provides a range of training and employment opportunities. Through our Construction Training Centre and various work placement programmes we provide real work experience and on the job training and support to help unemployed people to return to work.

I write to you all just to say thank you for the training you gave me for Wincanton. I attended my interview and re-sat the literacy and numeracy test and to my amazement this time got everything correct. However in my interview I did struggle a little and thought to myself I’m not going to get this position. On Thursday I received a phone call from Wincanton and again to my amazement I was offered the job and start on June 28th, and as a bonus they asked me if I wanted to take my forklift truck course and they would pay for the course. So I will also have an FLT license if all goes well.

Once again thank you, if it wasn’t for you I wouldn’t have got the job, and I’m now looking forward to my new future, it’s like starting a new life. Well Done Everyone!"
