The town of Keith gets its name from the Gaelic “Gaoith” meaning “wind” or “very pure air”

Keith's motto is "The Friendly Town" and it is currently home to around 5000 friendly folks, as well as the oldest working distillery in the Highlands! I’m not sure if there is any connection

With its delightful selection of quaint independent shops on Mid Street, as well as along the A96 at Fife Keith; the town also provides a good selection of restaurants offering traditional Scottish fare as well as other specialist eateries (including Indian and Chinese)

You'll find numerous specialist arts and crafts shops selling original art work of numerous local artists, as well as the world's only Kilt making School where all the garments are hand sewn in the old traditional way.

Britain's most northerly heritage railway operates between Keith and Dufftown, the malt whiskey capital of the world, during the months of April to September.

The town's central location offers first class connections to the beautiful Moray Firth coastline with its stunning beaches and at certain times of the year, the chance to witness in person the Majestic and Heavenly Northern Lights.

The Scottish Dolphin Centre is located close by at Spey Bay; the Cairngorms National Park is just a short drive away as is the Scottish winter ski resorts of Aviemore and The Lecht (approx. 1 hour)

Only 10 miles away you’ll find the all weather Huntly Nordic Ski Centre as well as Huntly’s historic castle.

Keith also offers easy access to many of Scotland's 283 munros; sign posted walks; the ancient castle trail as well as the local distilleries (seven of them), angling, falconry and so many other outdoor adventures.

Choose Keith as your base for exploring the diverse attractions of the North east of Scotland and you won't be disappointed!

It's all in Keith - Come and see it for yourself!
