More about Royal Holloway Swimming Club Swims 'THE English Channel'

WE ARE DOING THIS!!

It is with our great pleasure to announce that RHUL Swimming Club will be swimming the much anticipated event that is 'THE ENGLISH CHANNEL SWIM'.

The event will be taking place between the 22nd June and 29th June RHUL Swimming Club will be swimming the ACTUAL English Channel (21 miles of sea) for charity!!

We are raising money for:
- Surrey Dolphins Swimobility
- Help for Heroes Official
- Centrepoint (one of the Student's Union RAG charities chosen this year)

Please DONATE through here: http://m.virginmoneygiving.com/mt/uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-web/fundraiser/showFundraiserProfilePage.action?userUrl=rhulenglishchannelrelayswim&isTeam=true

The charities and us will greatly appreciate any donations :)

ALSO after each £500 we will do another challenge not quite the English Channel crossing but a challenge nonetheless! Keep updated on this page and our fundraising page for more details of each challenge :)

We will be doing this as a relay consisting of 9 strong willed, determined and impressive swimmers from Royal Holloway Royal Holloway, University of London!!

Here is the relay team:

Isaac Kenyon
Ryan Hall
Elena Guthrie
Sidonie Bertrand-Shelton
Bradley Tyler
David Comer
Aiman Mallah
Jack Williams
Emma Dean

We will be swimming from Shakespear Cliff (Inbetween Dover and Folkestone) to Calais in France accompanied by a Pilot (boat, observer and crew) :)

This is expected to take up to 12 hours of constant swimming in hourly rotations which is no easy task!! It will be an engaging in the adventure of a lifetime and one of the most difficult challenges known to man. In what will be a remarkable feat of human endurance, we will need to take turns and help each other cross this stretch of sea.

Not only will we be braving the chilly temperatures of the Channel, but we will also be navigating around shipping in one of the most congested Sea Lanes in the world, jellyfish and one of the strongest tides in the ocean. Not a challenge for the faint of heart by any means, but we not only hope to prove ourselves we can do it, but also hope to raise as much money as we can!!
