Roughley Limousin

The Roughley Limousin herd was founded in 1980 with selected purchases from dispersal sales and the importation of five maiden heifers from France.

The purchase of Harvest Orchid had the most influence on the herd : her son, Roughley Ultrabright, had semen exported to the Wulf herd in Minnesota, America and Australia, whilst embryos from Harvest Orchid were exported to New Zealand, with maiden heifers and a bull also sold to South Africa.

Limited showing achieved considerable success, with Roughley Capricorn unbeaten in the showring, including Junior Male Champion at the Royal Show and Roughley Unesco winning the Marks & Spencer Beefbreeder Overall Champion at the Royal Show against all breeds.

The herd has been successful in the North West Midlands and North Wales Herd Competition having won the Best Heifer Calf three times in the last four years and Champion Small to Medium Herd on three occasions in recent years.

The herd has been a member of the S.A.C. Premium Health Scheme since 2004 and has been accredited free of Johnes and BVD since then.

Cattle are sold privately from home in Sutton Coldfield in the West Midlands and at pedigree sales.
