More about Parent mental wellbeing and support

Parent Mental Wellbeing and Support is a therapy service established to assist parents in maintaining their mental health through pregnancy, birth and beyond.

The service aims to help parents experience the joy of connecting with themselves and their family. It is based on an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework which has mindfulness as one of it’s core principles. Learning mindfulness will equip parents with skills to help them deal with the challenges of parenting and help them to manage anxiety, depression and other difficult emotions.

Parent Mental Wellbeing and Support offers the following services:

• Mindful pregnancy and childbirth
• Mindful parenting
• Post natal mental health (including traumatic birth)

Kathryn Di Virgilio is an occupational therapist specialising in mental health, she is registered with the Health Care Professionals Council (hcpc) and is a member of the College of Occupational Therapists. Kathryn gained her degree at La Trobe University in Australia. Post qualification she worked in The Melbourne Clinic which is Australia's largest psychiatric clinic, delivering and developing their inpatient group therapy programme. Upon returning to the UK she worked for the NHS in Barnet's complex care team, working with clients with complex mental health needs. Kathryn is trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and has extensive experience working with people who are dealing with depression and anxiety.

Kathryn is passionate about helping parents and aims to make this service as accessible as possible. Family members and babies are welcome to attend the sessions if this would be suitable. Please get in contact to discuss how to best meet your needs.
