2014 was a year of personal loss and attending funeral services that were poignant and touching or, at the other end of the scale, impersonal and frustrating. Close family members had attended ceremonies taken by a Celebrant and believed it was something I could do. After much research and soul searching I trained with the FOPC.
It is so important to me that families and loved ones who are dealing with the death of someone close to them, can look back on the day of the funeral and know the tribute created truly represented their wishes and the person who died.
In order to create a unique and personal service I like to meet with the family and friends of the deceased and learn as much as possible about them. Each ceremony is bespoke and written specifically for your loved one. I can offer suggestions on poetry and music and also discuss ways to further personalise the event.
A funeral is undoubtedly a sad occasion but it can also be uplifting and moving.
As a celebrant there are few limitations on what can be included - prayers and hymns don't have to be exclusive to those who attended church but if a completely non-religious service is what you require then that's OK too.
