My name is Sharon Tippett and I am an artist/maker/crafty person based in Devon. (That's in the wiggly bit at the end of the UK, if you're not sure where it is.)

I like brightly coloured hair and hippy clothes. I have a penchant for vintage everything and wish I'd been around in the 1940/50's. I like to bake cakes and wear a pinny. My sister refers to me as a tree hugging hippy......and I like that.

I don't like to define myself specifically as an artist or as crafter...I just like to CREATE!!! Some days I like to sew, other days I like to paint. I'm always up for learning a new craft and that makes me a bit of a magpie for crafting stuff.

My first love is Harris Tweed (and when I grow up I'm going to move to Harris and live in a house made of tweed.....OK that might be a very odd dream I had once, but I'm sure you get my drift)
I purchase my Harris Tweed from a small selection of weavers on Harris who, on the whole, weave the tweed they want. This means that the designs are often bolder, wackier that what you would expect from tweed (not much green/brown coming from these weaving sheds).
This also means that I often can only get a tweed once, so once it's gone, it's gone!
Being a handmade process, the tweed isn't "perfect", but that makes it all the more unique.
All the weavers I use are affiliated to the Harris Tweed Authority, meaning that their tweeds have to pass a rigorous examination before it is given the stamp of approval.

My process is mostly done by hand; hand cut, hand printed & hand sewn. I'm sure it would be 10 times quicker to do it all by machine, but for me it's all about the process and the time it gives me to think (insert hippy dippy music here)

I make a range of cards and home decorations and am always up for a commission piece ;-)
