Semi-Permanent Make Up for eyebrows

FAQ
If anything is not covered here, please get in touch and ask.
What is Semi-Permanent Make Up?
Semi-Permanent Make Up, also known as Permanent Make Up, Micro pigmentation and Cosmetic Tattooing, is a form of tattooing that is carried out for cosmetic or medical reasons. There are many reasons for clients wanting these treatments, for example, they may have lost hair during cancer treatment or from another medical condition or simply as part of the ageing process. Alternatively, some people play a lot of sports and want their make up to stay in place, some people have difficulty putting on make up due to eye sight problems, whilst some people simply want to save time on their daily make up routine and want to be able to wake up in the morning and feel confident that they look good without putting make up on. Whatever the reason, more and more people are enjoying the benefits of Semi-Permanent Make Up.
Does Permanent Make Up hurt?
It is a form of tattooing, although it is not as deep in the skin as traditional tattooing and is therefore not as painful as traditional tattoos. That said, it is being carried out on sensitive areas such as the eyes and lips and therefore some people find it uncomfortable but most people opt to use topical anaesthetics before and during treatment and this really helps keep the experience as comfortable as possible. Pain is very personal and subjective and as such no two clients are alike, some feel nothing at all but a slight vibration and some find it a little uncomfortable. Whichever you are, I will always do my best to keep you as comfortable as possible at all times.
If you're worried about this aspect of it please get in touch with me and I can talk to you a bit more about what to expect.

How long does Semi-Permanent Make Up last?
It is designed to fade over time and the speed at which this happens varies from person to person. All skins are different and are affected by things like sun damage, ph level, smoking, alcohol, medication and many other things. As a result, we can never guarantee how well the pigment will be retained in the skin, we can only give you an estimate.
Retention is also affected by the colour pigment that you choose, darker colours will last longer and paler ones generally fade sooner. That said you should usually expect to get retention in the region of 18-24 months.
It won't just suddenly fade one day, it will be a gradual process that you may not notice at first but gradually the colour will begin to change, this is because some colours are stronger than others and so those parts remain in the skin longer.
In order to keep the colour looking fresh and as you originally wanted it, you will need to have a colour boost treatment every 18-24 months. You will know yourself when it needs refreshing but in case you are not sure, it's an idea to take a photo of yourself 1 month after your treatment, when the true colour will be showing and keep this as something to compare to in the future months.Prices for colour boosts vary depending on how soon you come back, the sooner it is the cheaper it is etc. Colour Boost prices vary from £100-£200 depending on the area treated and how long it's been since your original treatment. Please contact me and I will give you an exact price.
Please note that anything over 18 months will be charged at the full treatment price.
Do I need to shave my eyebrows before a treatment?
No absolutely not, there is no need to shave your eyebrows before treatment. In fact, it's better if you don't even pluck them so I have as much of your own natural brow hair to work with when designing the template.I've seen someone with black eyebrow tattoos, is this what I will look like?
No, absolutely not! We don't use black to tattoo eyebrows and if you know someone who has then they are probably not very well trained in colour theory. There are many, many different shades of eyebrow colour available from quite pale shades suitable for very fair people, right up to very dark brown and everything in between.
We are looking to make a natural looking enhancement to your face and features. You don't want people to notice your eyebrows before they notice you! Unless you particularly want that look of course, which some people do. Personally I prefer a more natural looking brow and I wouldn't put anything on your face that I wouldn't be happy to wear on mine.
Will there be any maintenance with permanent make up?
Permanent make up is a "low" maintenance option, not a "no" maintenance one. Whilst it will save you considerable time on a daily basis with reduced or minimal make up application, it will need "colour boosting" from time to time. Some people can go as long as 5 years between colour boosts but it is more usually somewhere between 18-24 months. This is dependent on a number of factors, such as the colour you choose, your skin type, how often you go in the sun, and a myriad of others. You will know when it is time for your colour boost when the colour starts to change as it fades.
Having your eyebrows done by a professional is more than simply a case of darkening your existing brows, it is an eyebrow design process to ensure you have the most flattering design for your face which may or may not be where you have existing eyebrow hair. We will discuss eyebrow maintenance during your consultation, I will always try to find a compromise between giving you the best shape brows but also utilising as much of your own brow hair as possible but normally there will be some amount of plucking, threading or waxing that you will need to do to maintain the shape and look. This is easily done as you simply remove any hair outside the template area.!
The Brow Procedure
Each permanent make up procedure is made up of three parts, a consultation, the treatment and the re-touch. All three parts are included in the prices quoted.!
This is a brief explanation of each stage however, please also read carefully through the Pre and Post Treatment pages, the FAQ and Sensitivity Patch Test Page as well.
If you have any other questions, pleased don't hesitate to get in touch with me.
Consultation
This is often carried out usually 24-48 hours before treatment .
£40 deposit is payable at this time for the booking, this amount will be deducted from the total treatment cost.
Patch sensitivity test is compulsory and will be carried out at this time.
During the consultation I will answer any questions you have about the procedure and find out from you what your concerns are and what look you are hoping to achieve. I will draw on the brows with a make up pencil and we will keep amending this template design until you are 100% happy with the look. I will never begin tattooing anyone unless they are totally happy with the design. We will go through this process again on the date you will have your actual treatment drawing both eyebrows on and we will not proceed until you are completely happy.
We will also discuss your skin tone and what colours might be most suitable for you depending on the look you are trying to achieve.
Treatment!
The treatment is carried out with a specialist cosmetic tattooing machine and you will feel a mild vibration and you should only feel a minor discomfort. I do my best to be as gentle as possible whilst also ensuring that the pigment is retained in the skin as much as possible. Levels of discomfort depend on the area being treated and generally most clients opt to use a topical anaesthetic which numbs the area in question, this is something we can discuss during your consultation. The treatment portion of the appointment usually takes anything from 2-3 hours. Please note that initially your brows will be considerably darker than the end result, so don't worry if they appear a little strong at first. They will soften considerably in the first week and will continue to fade till the true healed colour shows at around 4 weeks later.
Re-touch
Permanent make up will always require two treatments if it is a new procedure. You will need to contact me and book a re-touch for 4-6 weeks after your first treatment. This is very important to make sure that you get the finished look that you want. All treatments are a little patchy after just one treatment and as such it needs to be repeated to get an even, finished look.
Sensitivity Patch Test
Regardless of whether of not you have known allergies, it is absolutely vital that a full patch test be carried out on you before any Semi-Permanent Make Up treatment is undertaken.!
This can be done in advance of your treatment either at your consultation, or a minimum of 24 hours prior to your appointment.
This involves a small scratch behind your ear made with a sterile needle and a little pigment to be used .
I will not treat anyone who I have not completed a patch test on within the last 6 months, even if you are an existing client as your body changes all the time and you may have developed a recent sensitivity.
You will need to sign a form that confirms the patch test has been done and confirm whether or not you had a reaction of any kind.
Most people do not have any reaction at all so it's nothing to worry about but it is for your health and safety that we must test each client.
If you are one of the rare people that does suffer some kind of reaction to patch test then, depending on the severity it may not be possible to have the treatment done, and in any case would require the consent of your GP.
If you have any concerns or questions about the patch test, please take a look at the FAQs page, and if that does not answer your questions, please get in touch and I would be happy to talk you through it.
Treatment Price
£140 Introductory offer for very limited time only.
Re-touch £50.00 should be booked a minimum of 4 weeks following treatment and within a maximum of 3 months from the date of treatment.
