Hickory Dickory Daycare - Childminding service

My name is Terri (Teresa-Leigh officially) I am a single parent of Alice Olivia, who is 3 years old.

I am a happy, active and creative person. I love being in the company of children! I believe our children are our future and their health, safety and wellbeing is paramount to me. I have been childminding for almost two years now. We currently spend our days doing fun, exciting and fulfilling things with my daughter and a number of children from 1 to 11years old. We enjoy using the services of Sunderland children's centres, trips to the beach, parks, farms and swimming. When we are at home we like to play in our garden in all weathers, planting flowers, fruit and vegetables. Indoors we love to dress up, baking, construction, role play and we LOVE messy and creative play!!!

In October 2013 I received my first Ofsted inspection. My setting was given a GOOD outcome which after only 6 weeks of minding I was very pleased with. I have taken on recommendations made in the report and will strive to work towards an outstanding outcome next time.

I have worked in the childcare sector for almost 10 years. Past roles have consisted of nursery assistant (while studying childcare) nursery nurse (over 4 years) children's holiday rep, children's party host, face painter, and a nanny for 3 1/2 years before I started childminding.

In my last role, which ended July 2013, I spent my time caring for three young girls in a home environment. When I started the children were aged newborn, 17 months and 2 1/2. After my maternity I returned with my 5 month old daughter too. I enjoyed my role as a nanny extensively. It was the most fun 3 1/2 years, but unfortunately I was no longer needed when the youngest went off to nursery.

The bulk of my experience is with the foundation stage and younger (birth-5) but I enjoy working with all ages.

Qualifications and Training

I attended college for 2 years and gained a level 3 diploma in childcare and education, graded AAA. And was also awarded a higher level achievement award.
I also attended university and gained a level four in higher education in childhood studies.
I have a paediatric first aid certificate.
Other training I have completed includes, safeguarding, personal social and emotional development, strategies for dealing with a child who shows difficult behaviour and some mackaton training.
I have also undertook other training which can be discussed. As I am dedicated to my role I will continue to expand my knowledge and keep up to date with new information by attending regular training sessions.
