Hemel Tae Kwon-Do - TAGB

Hemel TKD is a friendly but dedicated club studying and practising the Korean martial art of Tae Kwon-Do.
We are part of the Taekwondo Association of Great Britain (TAGB) which practises a similar style of Tae Kwon-Do to ITF.

We have a wide range of members in the club - young & old(ish), male & female - many with different abilities and different reasons for practising the art.
We welcome all members and potential members, whatever the level of fitness, ability, flexibility and reason for training.

The first lesson is free for new members to the club so that they can try it without commitment.
The current cost to attend is £4 per session. At least one session per week is recommended if you wish to progress.

Practising Tae Kwon-Do has a number of potential benefits:
- Improve physical fitness and health
- Enable individuals to defend oneself better
- Provide continual goals and challenges
- Allow individuals to test their skills against opponents; both in the club and in regional and/or national competitions
- Instil discipline, focus and control

Progress in Tae Kwon-Do is by a belt system. Beginners to the art will start a white belt and can progress to the next belt by passing a grading that is assessed by a Master. There is a series of coloured belts to achieve before moving onto a black belt. Black belts can then progress by degrees or 'dans'.
By training hard and practising sufficiently, it is possible to become a 1st Dan Black Belt within three and a half years of commencing training, although most will take longer.
