Handmade by Mee

Handmade wooden fairy doors, and handmade dolls, hearts, bookmarks, gnomes and other felt items, all made from 100% wool felt.
I am a mum to four boys, the eldest of which is now 20 years old. We have been a Home Educating family for over 7 years and it is thanks to this that I have started 'Handmade by Mee'.
I have always loved making things. I can remember knitting and sewing as a child, along with making endless books from scrap paper and stapled together to hold my stories.
I lost touch with my creativeness for a long time, and it had a reprise when i had my boys. Drawing and painting, playdough models and things made from junk were the name of the game..along with a few knitted items of baby clothes and crackers for christmas! I also loved to decorate cakes....I even did one for a friend's wedding once!
And then we started to Home Educate and the craft side took off!
We were always making something from all sorts of materials! Wood,paper and cardboard...I even started knitting again but socks this time! I began to write, and draw and paint a little again, and my lovely old sewing machine was put back into service for several projects....bags, wizard robes, Roman soldier tunic, chef trousers from an old sheet and more recently Lord of the Rings style cloaks. My eldest son used it about 6 years ago to make several bags out of some old curtains!
Then I found myself drawn to the Steiner/Waldorf style of education and I began to make simple little flower girls for our season table, which led on to a slightly more complicated Father Winter and Mother Earth. A few dressed bendy figures followed and then as they were so expensive to buy and lacked 'cuteness' I looked for another version and I discovered Salley Mavor's Felt Wee Folk and I was very soon hooked! My sons were requesting all sorts of little people and then after some lovely feedback from friends, Handmade by Mee was born!
