About the Artist
Sue Gattiker
I have been painting watercolours for 18 years, having been inspired by my daughter to experiment with pastels a year earlier. With pastels in hand, pastel pad on my knee, I sat on a Jurassic beach in Dorset in 1998 and my passion began.
Art classes with Sally Evans - [Rectory Barn, Whaddon Lane, Hilperton] and Tim Williams [Bradford on Avon] - have become a lovely hobby and have been a source of artistic experience. I have attended several residential painting courses in the West Country, Wales and France.
My inspiration to paint comes from the landscape – sometimes the sea or towns and dwellings, but more often the countryside – my choices must embrace lightness and contrast, along with a sense of feeling ‘you are there’.
Time stands still when painting with the wonderful medium of watercolour.
