More about Cafe India Glasgow Merchant City

Café India, in the heart of Glasgow’s Merchant City, offers a unique dining experience. Set in this vibrant area of Glasgow, the restaurant represents constantly evolving menus and a carefully matched wine list. Cafe India is one of Glasgow’s oldest Indian restaurants, originally on North Street in Charing Cross until it was destroyed by fire and now in our new home in the City Centre.

We challenge the notion that Indian haute cuisine can only be created using age old recipes and ideas. We believe that Indian food should constantly evolve and adapt. Our team creates dishes and menus combining Indian ingredients with local produce and Indian cooking techniques with a European influence which produces a distinctive layering of flavours. This ethos is extended to our selection of award- winning wines, exclusive cocktail list and selection of fine Scottish Craft beer.

All our main ingredients are delivered straight from the market on a daily basis to ensure only the freshest, locally sourced ingredients reach your table. To make our dishes and sauces as low fat and healthy as possible, we do not use ‘Ghee’, which is high in fat and our chicken is steam cooked or grilled. This approach ensures you can enjoy all your favourite dishes but with a healthier twist and as they are prepared in our state of the art, theatre style kitchen – your experience begins with the sounds and smells of your food being prepared by our team of talented chef’s.

Café India’s Executive Chef Bablu Roderick has worked in first class hotels and restaurants across India, Bahrain and the UK. Bablu is joined by Vipan and his team to create only the best dishes for you to enjoy.

At Cafe India, our ethos has been to revolutionise the way Indian cooking is viewed in the UK and to continue to push the boundaries even further and it is the consistent high standards at Café India that has earned us 15 national dining awards over the years.

We would like to remind our diners that Friday and Saturday are our busiest nights and as every dish is made fresh to order, there can be a short wait during these times. The wait is worth it as it ensures you receive the highest quality dish, with the freshest ingredients made just for you – we appreciate your patience as much as I’m sure you appreciate the food
