We want to make things better for everyone affected by cancer. Firstly by ensuring the best care for the 8,000 patients seen by the Beatson every year and supporting their friends and family, and secondly by funding pioneering research which could lead to breakthroughs to help everyone in the UK living with cancer.
Company Overview
The Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre in Glasgow is the second largest cancer treatment unit in the UK, and the busiest. Beatson Cancer Charity is the only charity exclusively dedicated to supporting the centre to help in the fight against cancer locally, nationally and internationally.
After all, one in three people in the UK will be directly affected by cancer at some point in their lives – and more than two million people in the UK are currently living with it.
At the heart of the charity is the passion and commitment of its people, striving to help beat cancer. So we raise money for cancer treatment, care and research – three quarters of a million pounds each year, for instance, goes on funding extra staff. Clinical nurses and radiography staff who give the best possible service to people going through the traumatic, stressful and life-changing experience of having cancer.
The charity also supports the centre’s clinical and laboratory research, looking into the causes of cancer and investigating possible new treatments.
